How to buy investment luxury accessories for less

Finding Good Deals

I LOVE shopping and finding a good deal, always have, probably always will. Even before bags, one of the categories I invested in were shoes. My first pair of Louboutins were procured in a most surprising way. Shortly after Nick and I got married, and went through all our gifts, there were certain really expensive, off the registry gifts that were just not my taste. I wanted to love these for what they were: luxury brand, coveted items. But I couldn’t! I sat on it for a while until it hit me. I realized I could return these items and get and something just for me… investment luxury accessories I actually wanted, Louboutins to be exact! At the time, I could have swung the Louby’s on my own due to my job and no kids the only problem was and still is… I love deals!

So I got the shoes, and they were as magical and trans formative as I imagined that they would be. Ugh. I had hoped that maybe they wouldn’t be. There is always a little guilt when buying investment luxury accessories and I had just gotten some great shoes and had arbitraged the situation so that I was paying for it, but not really paying for it by returning the rejected wedding gifts. The next couple of investment items that I got were paid with cold hard cash. However, I did not regret it because they became jewelry 2.0 for me. I had never felt guilty about investing or asking for jewelry as gifts because I felt that they were precious and retained their value. Well guess what? Some of these investment accessories retain their value just as well or better than jewelry!

How I buy as a blogger

So now, enter blogging. In full transparency, I get a LOT of free stuff. Including clothes, bags, shoes and more that I really love. However, no matter how much free stuff I’m getting, I still have to buy things that I want to share with you because I love them with no strings attached. So there’s definitely a big expense to portraying my taste and aesthetic. I buy only marginally more than I did before I started blogging because I was always an avid shopper but some of the investment items that I want, I still have to buy! Here’s how: Enter Poshmark.

Poshmark luxury finds

Not only is Poshmark a great way to find luxury items for less, you can also sell just about any piece of clothing on there, luxury or not. What I usually do is I sell some items on there and then over time accumulate earnings to pay for my next luxury item. Including the YSL heels in the picture, at a discounted price! So I’m getting rid of things I don’t wear anymore, or am emotionally “done” with. Including the dress in the picture (still listed!).

I feel good about using a platform like Poshmark for a couple of reasons. One because you’re recycling clothes (a big source of waste) both by selling and buying. You’re saving, and you’re buying with money that you’ve already spent on the clothes you’re selling. In my mind it’s a win/win! Of course, there’s crappy quality in some cases (so be sure to look at the pictures), but you don’t have to worry about authenticity, as they will take it back if it’s not real! These YSL shoes were in new condition! They must have been worn once! What?! There’s other platforms like Poshmark as well: The Real Real, and Yoogi’s Closet I just haven’t gotten around to them! 🙂

Shop more of my closet on Poshmark ! and let me know what investment luxury accessories you are craving in the comments!
