9 Ways to Look Taller

Do clothes look better if you’re taller? Well, it depends, a lot goes into looking great in clothes. At 5’4 however, that doesn’t stop be from always looking for ways to look TALLER! My sister is 5’8, so I literally got the short end of the stick. 🙂 But I digress, in today’s post, I want to share 9 easy hacks to look taller instantly!

9 WAYS TO LOOK TALLER

1. Monochrome

I’ll start with the obvious, intuitive one; wearing a monochrome outfit. Black is the obvious choice because it tends to slim, but any color will do. It tricks the eye into looking longer because there’s no variation. If you think wearing monochrome outfits is boring, I encourage you to play around with tonal dressing. It’s not only easier to get dressed in the morning, it’s also serves as a type of blank canvas for accessories!

2. Knee High Boots

There’s something about knee high boots that really lengthen the legs, especially when you have a bit of heel. This shoe makes your calves look longer and gives you inches instantly. When paired with skinny jeans or mini skirts, this effect can be really lengthening. My favorite knee boots are here for a western flair and these for a classic look! The latter ones have a 15% off discount with code ziba15.

3. Shorter Hemlines

The third of easy hacks to look taller is as pictured in the second point, a shorter hemline! It is very helpful in having legs appear longer. Especially paired with knee high boots, or nude shoes. I don’t love mini skirts and shorts but wearing tights with boots helps me wear them more often.

4. Pointy Toe Shoes

You can see on the right hand picture how much longer my legs look in pointy toe shoes vs. chunky round loafers. On the left, my legs appear shorter and the overall effect of the untucked shirt and ill fitting jeans isn’t helping be look taller.

5. Cropped or Tucked Shirts

Which leads us to our next point on easy hacks to took taller! Tucking your shirt into a high waisted pant is very helpful! Even though these pants are cropped and therefore usually have a shortening effect, the French tucking of the sweatshirt (linked here) instantly elongates my look.

6. Pants Hemline Cut

In these two examples, I’m sharing how the cut of pants can help you look taller. For example in the first picture, the wide legs allows me to not have the line of the leg cut off at the ankle and also allows me to wear pointy toe boots that make the legs longer. That combined with a high waisted pant, is a great combination to look taller.

In the second example, I’m using a boot cut/high waisted pair of pants to also highlight how much it lengthens the my stature. On the left-hand side, I look shorter because my shirt is untucked and my jeans have an undefined hemline that is unflattering! Skinny jeans are also a suprising way to look taller! 7. Vertical Stripes, NOT Horizontal

I LOVE my horizontal stripes BUT they don’t do many any favors in making me look taller. Either pick a vertical stiped top, or go back to the easiest way to look longer; a monochrome look!

8. Small Bags

In the top picture I’m wearing a sleek smaller bag (mine here) that doesn’t overwhelm my frame. In the botton picture, my beautiful tote, appears a lot larger than me, so it makes me look a little shorter and smaller. However, if you’re looking for a great quilted bag here’s the link, plus 15% off with code ziba15.

9. Long Sleeves or Sleeveless

It’s not just about lengthening your legs, but all of your limbs. Don’t forget about your arms as an easy hack to look taller. A sleeveless or full-length look can really help you appear taller.
