New York Fashion Week 2018 Trends & Recap

FEmmata couture
Femeta Couture- Arts Hearts Fashion

It’s been a week since I came back from NYFW, my first time ever! I came back to a pile of work, my babies, a dance to choreograph with my performing group and I also needed to process what I saw and felt! I’ll start with how I felt; ECSTATIC. In terms of covering what I saw…..it’s difficult because I saw so MUCH. You’re there technically for Spring 2019 preview but everyone around you is wearing the LATEST of right this second, and the excitement is heightened because Fall Fashion has arrived (my favorite and apparently everyone else’s for fashion). So…..mind BLOWN!

I’ll start with some of my favorite outfits from my days there. Also, check this post out for other outfits I wore there but not covered here.  I think the best part about the “event” is that I truly felt I could’ve worn whatever I wanted and felt less nervous about it than I have for some parties here at home! Is that weird? I think it’s because there is so much creative flowing around you that you realize that no one is all that concerned about judging you, everyone just wants to be inspired! I loved the vibe in the air, and it’s what inspired me to write THIS about the similarities between dance & fashion.

THE OUTFITS

Outfit #1

I got this beautiful satin jumpsuit in Copenhagen, the blush plush coat is linked below! This outfit eased my nerves because I love black and the pink jacket provided a touch of comfort. The booties made me feel fancy. 🙂

Outfit #2

My best impersonation of Serena Vanderwoodsen! Silver booties INC,  Vegan Moto jacket. Without the jacket, ready for a cocktail! The perfect white button down HERE.  I added a couple of layers since I wanted options for temperature & mood!

THE SHOWS, THE TRENDS

I was invited to more shows than I could attend, and I was also not invited to some shows I really wanted to attend. 🙂 All of the pictures have been generously provided by Arts Hearts Fashion OR I have leveraged from the internet for demonstrative purposes, and will be sure to give credit where credit is due.

All That Glimmers

We saw sparkles everywhere we went. Whether full fledged pieces like dresses or boots or just finishing touches like bracelets to light your world up!

PATCHWORK

Some really fun patterns and patchwork were a theme throughout the week in seeing lots of eclectic color combos and unexpected textures all thrown together!

COSTUME VIBES

Looking for a little drama? You’re in luck, you can wear it! Whether it was extravagant fabrics, shocking necklines or sheer delights…it was all there!

POWER HUNGRY

So many suits, so little time! Power suits came in so many variations that it made me want to go to a meeting PRONTO. I especially liked the Satin touches.

LIGHT AS A FEATHER

Feathers for Fall are what bamboo was for Summer, so expect to see bird overdoses of all kinds. I love the bags like this one highlighting the trend.

POP OF COLOR

I’m not going to bore you with an animal print section because I’ve never met a Fall that didn’t feature animal print, but there was SO much color on the runways, which felt like a change of pace from other years. Neons, true reds, the blue sky was the limit.

So there you have it! Not included in here were wonderful items that we see every Fall in the company of animal print such as plaid, statement boots, plush coats. I will cover them soon in a ready to buy format where you can just grab stuff and put in your cart, which is not as easy with this stuff! I feel like runways are big picture outlooks (again technically Spring) and that was the intention of this post. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it. With love always, XO, Z
