5 Lipsticks I LOVE

Just in time to pucker up for Valentine’s Day, here are my favorite lip colors! The right shade of lipstick can make you look put together fast and accentuate your outfit or mood! I have been a lipstick girl since I can remember. My best friends and I would collect and swap Revlon lipsticks like baseball cards in middle school.  Variety was key, we couldn’t have enough! Our poor mothers. In our defense, we were on stage a lot performing in stage make-up, so it was a business expense ;). Here are the ones that I re-buy, new discoveries, as well as some that are clean beauty all the way.

The Classic Red

These can get you out of a bind in a hurry! No time for anything else? No problem, add RED lipstick! The one I wear a lot is this Chanel Pirate Color. It’s pretty flattering on most skin tones since it’s not too blue or too orangey. What I love about Chanel Beauty is that it doesn’t “go bad” or start to stink up over time. It is a bit pricier than other brands but longevity makes up for it.

The Muli-Tasker

[shopr collection=”the-multi-tasker”]

This lip color by Oiio E Osso is actually a a lip & cheek balm, and it’s made from only 6 minimally processed ingredients, the main one being organic olive oil! The shade I’m wearing here is No. 2, French Melon, and it’s deliciously creamy. When I’m in a big hurry I can get my cheeks and lips done in 30 seconds! They have other beautiful shades that flatter any skin tone. I lent it to my sister during a photo shoot and she couldn’t believe how lightweight and “clean” it felt!

The OLD STANDBY

[shopr collection=”old”]

At one point in time in my early teens, I must have owned about 30 Revlon lip colors.  At $4-5 a pop, it was pretty attainable over time and even back then I realized that these lipsticks were solid and performed! They didn’t stink up, they lasted and didn’t give me a weird taste that really cheap lipsticks do sometimes. The colors that I have continued to get over and over again are; Coffee Bean (showcases beautifully in the Fall or with a shimmery tan late summer), Raisin Rage (seen here) and Champagne on Ice (my go-to for years for wearing with smokey eyes).

The SEXY ONE

[shopr collection=”sexy”]

This is “Boy” by Chanel Beauty. This is the sexy one because it is just a hint of shimmery beige pink that makes your lips look almost bare. If you’re gun shy with lip color, this is a great one to try. The consistency is really approachable and you can really feel the moisturizing qualities in the lipstick. I like to wear this color when I want my eyes to pop and don’t want to overwhelm with red lips!

The CLEAN One

[shopr collection=”clean”]

I’m getting increasingly more into clean beauty, but it’s hard to make a complete switch. One of the brands that gives me hope to getting to 100% clean beauty is Kosas. The lipstick truly saturates and lasts. The color I absolutely love is called “Undone”. It doesn’t look that undone at all, it adds a nice pink/berry color that is not too dramatic but not subtle either. It looks like a darker, more accentuated natural lip color. I also tried “Fringe” but it was a bit too orange red, like a brick color, for me. When you think about how much lipstick we probably eat, it’s a good thing to find non-toxic one! Especially kissing all our babes!
