Fitness Friday- From workout on the go!

I love owning a fitness business and getting to workout with amazing people that I adore! One of the downsides is that between that and having 2 kids, it could be really easy for me to always look like a mess, and some days I do! These are some of the hacks that I’ve discovered since my days of being a sweaty ballerina (in college) and having to sometimes rush from a performance to a final exam! A lot has changed since then and now there’s amazing products and quality of active-wear that really helps.

FACE: For my face, the lightest make-up I can start out with works best so that I can apply more after if needed. I do like to wear some make-up when I teach because I try to look my best for my students, but it’s light make-up!

BEFORE the workout: I wear a brow pencil by Chanel, that stays put, I don’t bother with blush because I get a glow in class, anyway. I start with a CC cream with sunscreen, and I either wear chapstick or a hydrating lip color like this one from Juice Beauty. I do NOT wear mascara, after learning the hard way, but I do wear either liquid or pencil eyeliner and have found that they stay put. If I am feeling super, I might add my favorite cream shadow by Chanel, that stays put!

AFTER the workout: I spray my face with Juice Beauty hydrating mist to “reset my face” and prevent breakouts, wipe smeared eyeliner and reapply the CC cream. I then freshen up my eyes by correcting the parts of my eyeliner that “fell off” and add mascara (which I wasn’t wearing during class). I am so flushed after I workout that I still don’t need blush and powder feels to done for right after the workout. I finish off by applying whatever lipstick my heart desires! When all fails, sunnies. ๐Ÿ™‚

HAIR: I like to think of my hairdo in class as a styling technique for after class!

BEFORE the workout: I try to keep my hair is free of product as possible and don’t apply anything right before so it doesn’t make a bad mix with the sweat. I usually wear a braid if I have no previous styling to add a wave to my hair after the workout. If my hair is styled, then I do low pony and try to make the tie slightly loose so that it doesn’t create a crease inย  my blowout. Sometimes I might do a half up bun and pony. My hair is too big to do a bun for a cardio class as it would explode on me but if your hair will stay put, a bun is awesome for after-class waves!

AFTER the workout: I used to be big on dry shampoo but since having babies feel like the fumes intoxicate me so I haven’t reaped the benefits of dry shampoo in a while. I do love Jessie’s transitioning cream or hair oil to bring it back to life! I undo the braid, apply a small amount and flip by hair over to create volume. Worse case scenario, which is half the time, I just do a high bun, which looks elegant and like you’re about to take over the world!

OUTFIT: I have 2 schools of thought, get out if it OR keep & make it work!

GET OUT OF IT: Some of my workouts are so sweaty, that there’s no way I can stay in my clothes in the winter. Summer is different because you’re constantly sweating anyway and the cold doesn’t make you form icicles on your body.

KEEP: Many times, no matter how sweaty I get I have to keep the workout clothes on and make them work either because I’m running to another of our studios or meeting. In those times my must haves are:

-LAYERS- I bring 2 workout tops, one that I wear for the workout and another for after class so I don’t get my other layers wet. I usually bring a long-sleeve layer that I can put on over my sports bra or 2nd tank and a good sweater pull-over. As the weather warms, I leave the sweater pull-over out and add a light jacket du jour! In the spring or summer I might add a short jersey or cotton dress over instead.

-LEGGINGS- High quality leggings are key for longevity, check out this post on how I go about selecting mine.ย  The higher the quality, the better they will dry and the more they will hold you in, in public. ๐Ÿ™‚

– BIG T-SHIRT- I also love the look of a big tee over my leggings and add a denim or sporty jacket (Carbon38, Target and Stella McCartney have really cute ones).

– HAT- This kills 2 birds with 1 stone, it helps tie your look together and hides a bad hair day quick!

So there you have it! What are you fitness fashion hacks?! Does anyone know of clean dry shampoo? XO-Z
